The one where I've resorted to the best.

Since I started my blog I've been trying out a few cleansers/face washes.  First there was the Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser which had a lovely texture and didn't dry my skin out but definitely didn't help to get rid of or prevent blemishes.  I then tried the Superdrug face wash designed to clear up skin (Superdrug Tea Tree and Peppermint Facial Wash) which seemed to be helping my skin but by the end of the tube my skin was so dry it was clearly not the right one for me.

After these failures and a long while of snooping around blogs and vlogs, the only thing that I have seen repeatedly recommended is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser.  I cringe at the price but if it works, and keeps my skin clear and not dry, I'll be happy.

It cost £13.75 for an 100ml pump starter kit (which included 2 muslin cloths).  Delivery cost £3 which bumped up the price even more but it only took a few days for it to arrive and it came packaged in a lovely way.  The parcel had a fragile sticker on it and then when I opened it there was lots of goodies inside.  The actual cleanser and cloths were in a pale green, pencil case style case and I was also sent a 50ml Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, some samples of the Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint in 3 different shades and a booklet of the Liz Earle products.  There was also a letter welcoming me as a buyer, they definitely give you lots of love for your money!

I got all of this yesterday and started using the cleanser immediately.  This morning when I woke up my skin actually looked good, now I don't know whether this is because of the cleanser or just because today is a good day but we shall see.  I am going to try out the Sheer Skin Tint when I next wear makeup which I suspect will be tonight when I go out.

The one where it's getting cold, even for me.

I am one of those strange people who get really hot really quickly so I often struggle with wearing wintery clothes even when it is cold. In England it has gone from a shock heatwave to cold, cold weather so I have actually been able to wear a jumper! This one is new and was £10 in the New Look sale. I ordered it online because I love the loose armed but cropped shape but when I received it I was slightly upset to find it has silver threads running through the knit. It is also a dark green rather than a black but after a day of wearing it, I love it!  As you might notice, I've had a mop chop recently.  The hairdresser thought my ombre was dye that had grown out (!) and said that my hair was in such bad condition I needed to have a good few inches off.  I'm not too keen on it but I'm just waiting for it to grow.

The one where I'm minty fresh faced.

I would be disappointed to hear if any of my girl friends were unaware of the brand Soap and Glory.  The packaging is so eyecatching, pink, yellow and silver with bold writing, puns and photos of pin-up girls.  It is all more expensive than I would usually spend on body and face products but it is by no means expensive.  I have quite a lot of Soap and Glory products from receiving them as presents, expecially in Christmas gifts but this one I bought myself.

It is the Soap and Glory 'scrub your nose in it' face scrub which can be used as either a scrub or a mask and is designed to reduce blemishes and shrink pores.  If you don't like the smell of mint then don't even think about buying this.  It smells a bit like toothpaste which I completely love.  It comes out as a green paste with exfoliating particles and I usually smooth it onto my face and then leave it for a good few minutes to let it act as a mask.  I definitely feel like my pores are much tighter after I've used this and would definitely recomend it and most other Soap and Glory products!

The one where I can't resist the spending.

I went into town to get my hair cut today and ended up (as usual) diverting to New Look and Primark.  It is not that I don't like other shops, it's just like I like to have lots of clothes rather than less but more expensive ones.  New Look had a 20% student discount event on too.



I have studs and earrings that dangle but I've realised that I have a defecit of large studs.  These ones came from New Look and cost only £2.99.  The colour is a dark coral and the gold rim is very subtle so they look very tasteful.

These ones are a bit more loud and tacky but then again they do come from the mighty Primark.  They only cost £2 and are a lovely colour.

I've already mentioned this one in previous blog posts but didn't include it in a haul.  It is the primark stag ring to go with the necklace that I already own.  I bought a small which fits perfectly on my ring finger (on the right hand of course).  It was £2 and is a gorgeous statement piece.  It is only the impractical elements of it that let it down.  I managed to stab my hand with it on one occasion and have had a few problems with, for example, dragging clothes off their hangers when trying to put stuff in my wardrobe!

These two rings came in a set from Primark, again for £2.  I think they are really cute and of course this way I can wear the same ring but pick whether I want to wear gold or silver.

It took several sightings of this ring to decide to actually buy it.  I managed to pick a size that fits right on both fingers which I think is pretty crucial when it comes to rings.  After wearing it for an evening I love it.  Although the diamantes are a bit tacky, the 'antique' nature of the gold reduces that.  It was £2.

I know I've talked about how I used to live in vests but those were tank top style vests.  The ones that I've been buying recently are the shoestring style which can be worn under other tops.  The first, second and fifth are from Primark and the others are from New Look.  They all cost around the £2 or £3 mark.

I spotted this top on the way to the till in Primark.  It only cost £4 and although I had to get a size 16 (which I am certainly not) because they didn't have many sizes left, I love it.  It is a very sheer, peach coloured lace top which is perfect to wear over a vest top.  It is possibly one of the girliest  items of clothing I own but what makes you feel more feminine than lace?

This purchase was sort of a continuation of my search for autumn colours.  The dark green is a colour I grew up with, my parents favourite colour, the colour of the carpets at home and all that kind of thing.  I never used to like it but now I really do.  I said that my new Primark bag satisfied my thirst for a new bag but it seemed it didn't.  It was £13 which I really didn't need to spend on a bag but I know I'll use it.

I used to stick to wearing black ballet pumps because that's what I used to wear to school and it's what I have to wear to work.  These £8 pumps from New Look come in several different colours so I snapped up the gorgeous purple colour and some brown ones.  Got my eye on the cream ones too!

The one where I'm as tough as old boots.

This is my new top with my favourite high waisted shorts.  I hardly ever dress up in the day time, the casual look is far more me.  I hoped the tshirt would be more baggy but on closer inspection it is designed to be fitted and infact is almost long enough to be worn as a dress, not that I would ever do this.  How do you like my slightly orange (in this photo) ombred hair?

The one where jewellery is dangerous.

This is a look I tried out with my new shorts and forest green vest top.  I just love the autumn colours!  I accessorized with my stag's head necklace and ring although ended up cutting my hand on the ring after my friend threw a ball at my and one of the antlers stabbed me!

The one where I've shopped the autumn colours.

I used to be a girl of many colours.  Always bright colours, regardless of the season.  It has changed recently though, I like deeper colours and more subtle shades and the colours that are in the shops this autumn/winter are gorgeous.

I got these high waisted shorts from New Look (of course).  They fit perfectly!  Some people say that high waisted shorts are uncomfortable but (although I'm slim) I love to feel pulled in at the waist.

 I bought these a couple of weeks after the first.  I just love the rust shade and the corduroy material, they are so soft!  I'm not sure about what tops to wear with these though.  What colours go with rust?  Both pairs of shorts were around £20 but I also got a student discount.  I plan to wear shorts through the winter with tights because I get too hot in jeans and find them too uncomfortable.

I hate wearing tshirts, I really struggle with things that cover my shoulder and the top of my arms.  It is very strange I know but it's just how I work.  I want to start wearing baggy tshirts with my new shorts though because I think they look good pulled in.  This is just a brown tshirt with boots on it, from Primark for about £3.  I might cut the sleeves off depending on how it looks on.

I get very hot very easily so I often just wear vest tops and then put a layer or two on top.  This mustard coloured top from New Look was about £12 and I think it will look cute over a vest top or on (slightly risque) nights out, simply paired with shorts.

I never wear scarves but I love the silky material and autumn colours of this scarf from New Look.  There were lots of different colours and patterns, this one has horse riding accessories on it which make up the pattern.  It cost £8 which I was reluctant to pay but I liked it so much I thought I'd treat myself.  Any suggestions for how to wear it would be welcome though!

This £7 Primark bag satisfied my desire for a new bag.  I used to be really 'matchy matchy' about my accessories and if I wore brown boots I had to have a brown bag and vice versa.  I now have brown and black shoes so this bag calms my matching urges!  It is just big enough to hold a notebook or book too so is perfect to take to a lecture.
